Why Hijaz?
Hijaz is the western belt of the Kingdom: Mecca, Medina and Jeddah, the sea on one side and the mountains on the other. Its name comes from the range that holds the coast apart from the interior. For centuries it has received more travellers than any other region, and its dialect, food and markets carry a trace of everyone who passed through. This bag carries the region's name and its own design within a series covering five regions. The idea is a plain one: move the name off the conversation and onto something carried every day — to work, to class, to the market — instead of leaving it as a framed picture in a majlis.

A piece from where the line started
This bag belongs to the first edition — the run the series began with, before it carried on into a newer one. Owning a piece from the beginning means carrying the original shape of the idea as it first came out, which is reason enough for anyone who likes knowing where a thing started.
Five regions, one series
Najd, Hijaz, Al-Jouf, the Eastern Province and Asir. Most people pick their own region; plenty give it to someone who belongs to it. And since the bag is carried daily, the name stays in front of you rather than settling into a drawer.
Caring for it
- Wipe it with a soft dry cloth now and then.
- Spot clean with a slightly damp cloth and let it air dry.
- Keep it out of direct sun and high heat.
- Pad it with soft paper for long storage so it holds its shape.
